Dear Roboticists,
Due to numerous factors, we have decided to suspend hosting the Trinity College International Firefighting Robot Contest through 2022. Trinity College continues to trademark the name and rules for the contest, and encourages others to host regional events using our rules, as long as they properly cite the trademarked name.
We greatly appreciate the international community’s participation in our events over the years!
Sincerely,
Dr. John Mertens
Contest Director
Professor of Engineering
Trinity College
For the 28th year, robotics teams from around the world have gathered at Trinity College to compete in the International Fire Fighting Home Robot Competition, which advances robotic technology and knowledge by using robots as an educational tool.
What makes Trinity’s robotics competition different from others is that only autonomous robots are invited—intelligent robots programmed to operate independently and to respond in a particular way to outside stimuli; no remote controls are involved. First, second, and third place prizes are awarded to teams in different divisions whose robots successfully navigate a maze to extinguish a lit candle. The winners are determined by the best combined score from the completion of three difficulty levels. Awards are also given for additional challenges such as the poster presentation,
a Robotics Olympiad Exam, most creative robot, and more. Click HERE for more information.
